Our Senior Travel Consultant, Vicki, has just returned from a nine-day getaway to Sandals Resort in Curacao, located in the Caribbean. Her trip was a perfect blend of relaxation, sunshine, pristine beaches, and breath-taking views. In this blog post, Vicki shares her experience at the resort and highlights her favourite moments.
Curacao is a Caribbean island situated near Aruba. Vicki’s journey began with a flight from Heathrow Airport to Amsterdam, followed by a direct 10-hour international flight to Curacao. In the summer months, you can even fly locally from Southampton. She travelled with KLM in Economy Comfort, an upgrade that provided extra legroom and 4cm extra on the reclining seats and personal entertainment system of 9-11 inches which proved helpful during the long-haul flight.
Upon arrival at Curacao Airport, Vicki was greeted at the Sandals Lounge by a member of the Sandals team, who assisted with her luggage and escorted her to the coach for the short 45-minute transfer to the resort. Vicki was particularly impressed by the stunning scenery at the grounds of the resort. Surrounded by vibrant greenery and towering palm trees, the setting provided a relaxing picturesque environment to kick start her time away.
The resort offered a wide range of complimentary activities for guests to enjoy throughout the day. These included snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaking, table tennis, beach volleyball, and access to a fully equipped fitness centre. For certain activities, such as scuba diving, a PADI certification is required. This certification can be obtained at the resort, or if guests already hold one, they simply need to bring it with them. In addition, the resort features a luxurious on-site spa, offering a variety of treatments using natural regional products. The spa also includes elegant treatment rooms, a beauty salon, a steam room, plunge pools, and several intimate relaxation areas, providing guests with the ultimate in relaxation and wellness.
The resort holds eight distinct restaurants, offering a diverse range of dining options, from a steakhouse to Italian, Mediterranean, and seafood cuisine. Vicki's personal favourite was Butch's Island Chop Steakhouse, where she enjoyed exceptional food, a welcoming atmosphere, and great service, making it a memorable dining experience.
Vicki stayed in a luxurious Carisia room on the second floor of the resort, offering a stunning view of the tropical gardens. The room was newly furnished and featured a spacious bathroom, a large four-poster bed, and a fully stocked minibar. Additionally, it included a generous balcony, providing the perfect setting to relax and enjoy
Overall, Vicki had a fantastic trip to Curacao with Sandals Resort. She enjoyed a thoroughly positive and relaxing experience, and would highly recommend the resort to friends. Vicki is already looking forward to her next Sandals adventure and hopes to visit Sandals Saint Vincent next!
